About Jewel and Feel House Counselling

Jewel Hall, RPC-Provisional (CPCA)

Hello and welcome to Feel House Counselling!

I grew up in Victoria, BC, and have also lived in Kitimat, BC, where I have learned to appreciate a small town's calm and quiet life. Currently, I reside in Victoria and also work with a large non-profit supporting licensed school-aged programs.

I have been working or mentoring youth since I was a youth myself, and I have always felt an innate passion for working with children and youth. Professionally, I have worked with children and families for almost eight years. Working with the non-profit sector has grown my passion and curiosity for child and youth development, cognitions, emotions, and behaviours.

My original career plan was to become a high school science and physical education teacher. I noticed how my passion decreased after facilitating and educating big groups of children in a similar environment with the non-profit. Although I still enjoy group facilitation, I discovered my true calling as a counselling therapist through my one-on-one interactions with the children I serve and their families or other support systems.

I now hold a Registered Professional Counsellor-Provisional (RPC-Provisional) designation with the Canadian Professional Counsellors Association (CPCA) and opened Feel House Counselling to continue supporting children, youth, young adults, and their families in a professional counselling setting to promote empowerment in our future generation.

The intention behind "Feel House"

Why "Feel House" ?

Feel House Counselling's logo resulted from careful consideration of colour theory, intention, and a hint of cleverness.

The heart top at the bottom represents "Feel," and the roof and chimney obviously represent "House." Together, they become an upside-down heart, which ties together the entire connection between "Feel House"—the universal symbol for kindness, care, and positivity. The family in the center is the cherry on top, encapsulating an environment that feels like a home should (secure, kind, and validating).

We cannot always build the future for our youth, but we can build our youth for the future.

To offer counselling therapy not only to children and youth but also to their primary support systems by educating, empowering, and validating all participants to ensure our children and youth develop into the people they want to become.

My Vision

My Mission

My Mission

For all children and youth to grow up with supportive and nurturing support systems that teach and show them recognition, acknowledgment, and love so that they become empowered and confident humans.

My Values

  • Empowerment: empowering children, youth, young adults, and their support systems to promote confidence and security.
  • Collaboration: working together to support children and youth in their everyday and future lives.
  • Support: Validation, empathic listening, and understanding.

Modalities Used

Attachment-Based Therapy

Supports clients in developing a sense of stability and security, which helps them control their emotions. These abilities can then be applied to other areas, like goal orientation and socializing, which improves confidence, self-worth, and general quality of life.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Focuses on changing negative thinking or behavioural patterns by evaluating how our thoughts, feelings, and behaviours are intertwined and influence one another.

Play and Art Therapy

A therapeutic use of play and/or art to help children process challenging experiences. Play and Art therapy can also offer an alternative method of communicating difficult experiences, emotions, and thoughts.

Strengths-Based Therapy

Utilizing and developing the strengths that you and others recognize you have and applying them to your current struggles.

Person-Centered Therapy

This therapy is non-directive, meaning the therapist does not try to steer the conversation. Instead, the client is encouraged to take the lead by bringing up the problems, emotions, or challenges that are pertinent to them. Each client's ideas, experiences, and beliefs are regarded as legitimate material for the sessions.
